The Indiana State Quilt Guild has named their  2017 Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Brenda Manges Papadakis, better known as the "Dear Jane" originator.  Her interest in Jane Stickle's 1863 quilt began when Brenda was doing research on quilting.  As a mathematics and special education teacher she naturally gravitated to the math involved in drafting the "Baby Jane" blocks and teaching them to thousands of quilting students through her book and classes.  She recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the publication of " Dear Jane: The Two hundred Twenty-Five Patterns from the 1863 Jane A. Stickle quilt" at the Houston Quilt Festival.  Brenda has developed Electric Quilt software and acrylic templates to create the patterns as well as two Windham fabric lines dedicated to her beloved thousands of "Janiacs" who have created Dear Jane quilts.
Brenda has strong ties to Indiana as she lived in Indianapolis from 1980-2007.  She taught and lectured for Quilt Guild of Indianapolis during that time period.  She plans to be with us to celebrate on July 20th, 2017 at the Marion Public Library at 7:00 pm.  Please join us for a reception honoring Brenda.
